Rationale for new Signage
In 2005, CCA developed a new standard in recycling signage. CCA believes that the recycling rates will increase if images of actual empty packages are shown, as opposed to pictograms, which are currently used. So far qualitative research has shown that this is true. In the second half of 2005 CCA will undertake quantitative research to determine the effectiveness of the signage.
Where is this signage currently being used?
CCA has initially worked with Taronga Zoo in Sydney to use this new system in the new Taronga Foodmarket. Initial feedback from the Zoo suggests that recovery rates have increased. To determine the effect the new signage has on collection and contamination rates CCA will use independent auditors to undergo a thorough test of the material.
CCA will also use the new signage with Kosciusko Thredbo for a public place recycling program that will be installed in time for the 2005 snow season. |
