In June 2005 CCA and Thredbo partnered to expand Thredbo's public place recycling program. Thredbo already had a well established kerbside program that had been running for fifteen years and had some temporary public place facilities.
CCA, who was already a sponsor of Thredbo, worked with the Thredbo environment team to expand the out and about recycling in the village and on the mountain. Fifteen new recycling bins were installed and used CCA's new form of recycling signage. The recycling stations were also fitted with a round hole that stops large bags of rubbish being diposited in the bin and helps lower contamination rates.
In addition to the recycling bins, CCA ran a communications program in Thredbo. This included messaging on the buses, in shop windows, on the mountain and in the media. A series of audits of the bins will be carried out over the season to measure the effectivness of the new program.
