CCA's response to the Tsunami

In response to the disaster that has devastated so many lives, Coca-Cola Amatil and all its subsidiaries express our deepest condolences to all affected.

As a part of the community the Company has, is and will take steps to help alleviate the misery of both the victims as well as those who escaped but are in need of assistance.

CCA’s assistance is being coordinated with the Central Government, regional government and the Command Posts (POSKO) for National Disaster Relief in Aceh, Medan and Jakarta in Indonesia

As a major investor in Indonesia, CCA’s subsidiary company, Coca-Cola Bottling Indonesia and The Coca-Cola Company recognise that we have a role to play in the aftermath of the Tsunami tragedy.

To date CCA’s response has been:

  • Donating basic medical supplies, including bottled water
  • Direct employee initiatives - donations of clothes and money - with the Indonesian/ Australian operations matching local employee donations
  • Disaster relief assistance delivery using 12 route trucks, given directly to Aceh local government and community leaders.

These measures provided immediate assistance to Indonesia; particularly the trucks, which are being used to transport medical supplies and other, needed equipment.  CCA in conjunction with The Coca-Cola Company are currently working on a longer-term plan to assist the local area, which will likely be done through The Coca-Cola Indonesia Foundation.  The funding will be focussed on helping local communities, particularly in assisting to re-establish education channels.

In addition to this The Coca-Cola Company globally have donated (US) $10 million in the Asia Pacific region.  A substantial part of this has been allocated to Indonesia where already 20 trucks and 5 ambulances have been purchased for the Indonesia Red Cross to be used in the Aceh area.  CCA and The Coca-Cola Company will continue to work together to deliver aid in the affected areas.
