In 1969 the Steamships Trading Company became the first local company to be granted a Coca-Cola licence in Papa New Guinea. In May 1991 Coca-Cola Amatil acquired the two major Coca-Cola bottling operations in PNG - Lae and Port Moresby. The two bottlers produce 86% of the country’s Coca-Cola trademarked products and serve the majority of PNG’s population of almost 4 million. CCA now operates both plants manufacturing and distributing both Coca-Cola and Schweppes brands, and has access to over 85% of the country’s population.
