Said Neale Wood General Manager Grinders Coffee, “For the past two years, we’ve been working hard to make the best possible coffee for our customers. By looking at the trends emerging in the industry and focusing our sourcing the best beans available, we’ve taken our coffee roasting to a new level and it’s very exciting for us and our customers that Grinders has earned this recognition from the industry.

“Congratulations must go to our Master Roaster, Levent Doganay, who is responsible for the outstanding quality of our Single Origin program.”

From 22-24 February, this year’s 23 judges sampled their way through a record 281 entries, scoring them based on a raft of criteria including aroma, taste, body and visual appearance.

Established in 1998, the Sydney Royal Coffee Competition is one of Australia’s leading coffee competitions and uses professional coffee tasters from the industry. Competition Chief Judge Paul Mannassis was delighted with the high standard of entries across the competition.

“We had four baristas onsite during the competition who served up about 50 coffees a day to each judge – that’s a total of 2,300 cups in two days!”
