Paradise Beverages donates $150k to Cyclone relief

Paradise Beverages has pledged FJ$150,000 towards the relief efforts following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Paradise Beverages has pledged FJ$150,000 towards the relief efforts following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

General Manager Tony Scanlan said, “As a large local employer, we have seen first-hand the devastation and damage caused. Much of Fiji is still without power and some without water. The scale of the disaster is also now apparent and many people are in urgent need of assistance, with devastation on Vanua Levu, and in the Northern and Western towns of Viti Levu, and the islands.

“Paradise Beverages is pledging FJ$150,000 to the disaster relief funds, establish by the Fijian Government, to be used to directly benefit those Fijians who have been left homeless, without adequate food, water and essential services.

“In addition we have established a hardship fund of FJ$30,000 to further assist our employees who have been hardest hit by the distaster. Whilst we have been able to confirm that all our people and their families are safe, many have suffered extensive damage to their properties.”

Mr Scanlan continued, “At this time, what the community needs most is financial assistance that can be most effectively translated into the support needed on a local level. The Fijian Government has established accounts to receive financial donations that will be used to directly benefit those Fijians in most need.

“A number of local organisations have already pledged their support and we would encourage any others that are able to, to do anything they can to assist at this incredibly difficult but critical time for our country.”
