Meet Jacinta, Process Technician

Our people are our greatest asset, and they each have a unique story to tell. Jacinta Rogan, Process Technician shares her experience working in Supply Chain at Amatil.

What is your favourite beverage and who would you share it with?

Mount Franklin Water would be my favourite, I would share it with everyone. Water is a necessity and ours is definitely the best.

Tell us about your career path before joining Coca-Cola Amatil?

Prior to Amatil I was a manager at McDonalds, but I’ve been working here at Amatil for just over three years now across various roles.

Why did you want to work with the team at Amatil?

I knew that I needed to find a stable long-term career that I could really invest myself into. I knew I didn’t want to go to uni or do additional study, a desk job would never really be for me. Amatil was not on my radar initially, but I heard about a job opening and so I just went for it and I knew straight away that I could make a strong career here.

I first started at Northmead on the large PET line, as a production operator. Within about a year and a half I had been promoted to line leader of that line. I had learnt pretty much the entire line and there wasn’t anywhere else for me to progress at that moment at Northmead, so I saw a job opening over at PSD as a process technician and I applied as I knew I wanted to keep learning more and progressing in my career. I was lucky enough to be the only successful one hired. I’ve held the role of process technician at PSD for almost a year now.

What does the Process Technician role involve and how does your team fit into the broader business?

As a process technician we ensure the safe and efficient running of our injection moulding machines which produce our high quality preforms and caps for all our PET bottled products. At any given time, the plant could be running 10 injection moulding machines and an assembly line. We set and up and ensure the seamless running all the equipment and systems associated with producing closures and preforms (camera systems, printing systems, AGV’s, bag inserter and sealer, bin handling etc). We carry out quality checks, complete various changeovers, trouble shoot and fix problems and maintain all raw materials to keep all of lines running at peak performance.

What is the team’s area of focus for the next 12 months?

Our focus is to ensure we keep producing the best quality product in the safest most efficient way possible while working as a team to make sure PSD remains number one at Amatil.

Our People Pact represents the commitment made between Amatil and our employees. Which pillar of the People Pact resonates with you the most and why?

“Make A Difference”- This part of the people pact acknowledges our focus on safety and I think it’s really important to call out our safety culture. The role we play every day making Amatil a safe place to work is probably the element of the people pact that resonates most with me, especially working at the Packaging Services Division.

What are your top three tips for being a positive role model at Amatil?
  1. Ensuring you’re always working to the best of your ability and doing everything safely. Safety is always number one.
  2. Be accountable and lead by example. Making sure you’re reasonable and clear, only doing yourself what you expect other people to do.
  3. Always come to work ready to work and wanting to be a team player. Not showing up because you feel you must go but making sure you’re being an active and present part of the team.
How will you enjoy your next annual leave day?

I have annual leave planned for this weekend, I’m going for a trip to Canberra with my partner. Our operations manager is very flexible with leave, we’re generally always allowed to take the time off we need as long as we put in the leave before anyone else as we’re a lean team.

What is your #onlyatamatil moment and why did it make a difference to you?

My only at Amatil moment would have to be the moment when I looked at my employee shares account realised how much it had grown. I was amazed at how such an easy system could generate such substantial assets over time. It made me a bit ecstatic when it reached that certain number and it’s great that the company matches our shares. It’s really only something I’ve been able to experience at Amatil.
