Grinders Coffee House is very pleased to announce Master Roaster, Giuseppe Cianchi, has been awarded Q Arabica Grader certification by the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI). By achieving this certification Cianchi has joined an élite group of coffee professionals with a commitment to quality in coffee and 'Q-Language' to discuss coffee quality.
The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is a non-profit organisation working internationally to improve the quality of coffee and the lives of the people who produce it. CQI provides training and technical assistance to coffee producers and other individuals in the supply chain to increase the value, volume and sustainability of high quality coffee production. CQI developed the Q Coffee System, for both Arabica and Robusta, to reinforce and uphold the standards of specialty coffee. The Q Grader Program designed by CQI creates a skilled and credible body of specialty Arabica coffee cuppers to consistently and accurately assess coffee quality, both cup and grade, as a part of its Q Coffee System.
"The Q grader course has been a wonderful learning experience for me. It has given me the opportunity to better understand how the coffee is appraised in other parts of the world and to meet some wonderful people within the coffee business," Giuseppe Cianchi says.
It also highlights, once again, the importance of coffee for the livelihood of so many farmers around the world. This will push me even further to develop a coffee culture that is based on quality, sustainability, better farming practices and fairer prices for the farmers." Today, that program is the only internationally recognised certificate system for Arabica coffee cuppers.
