Coke New Zealand Joins the Auckland Pride Parade

Coca-Cola Amatil NZ (CCANZ) Head of Human Resources Martin King today confirmed publicly, for the first time, that Coke New Zealand* will have a float in the Auckland Pride Parade this Saturday.

The 12m long float and sound spectacular, themed around all things that make New Zealand’s summer great, will feature a three piece band and more than 50 staff members, friends and family celebrating diversity and inclusion.

“We’re thrilled to announce our first ever float in the Auckland Pride Parade. As a certified Rainbow Tick company (CCANZ), our staff, family and friends are celebrating diversity on our fabulous float packed with high energy tunes, family friendly activities and good times!” says King.

The announcement of Coke NZ’s participation in the Pride Parade coincided with the presentation of our Rainbow Tick accreditation, by Programme Director Michael Stevens, “"There's more and more evidence internationally showing that people who come from the rainbow community, that is people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex, face discrimination in the workplace," Mr. Stevens said.

"The Rainbow Tick is designed to help workplaces get to a place where they are safe and inclusive for employees from these communities. Once a company is awarded it, they get to decide how they want to employ it and Coke New Zealand’s partnership with the Pride Festival is a great initiative."

The presentation of the certificate culminated in the raising of the Rainbow Tick flag which will continue to fly over CCANZ’s Mt Wellington site, The Oasis, as a sign of Coke NZ’s support for diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
