13th place. Unlucky for some, but not us

On Sunday morning, a 350 strong team of Coca-Cola Amatil NZ (CCANZ) staff, family and friends took to the pavement in the annual Round the Bays fun run, finishing 13th out of 384 corporate groups.

Starting near Britomart Place, more than 30-thousand registered runners made their way along the 8.4-kilometer course finishing with festivities at St Helier’s’ Vellenoweth Green, including entertainment from Sola Rosa, Hollie Smith and Anika Moa and a well-received misting tent from Pump.

As water sponsors of the fun run since 2010, Pump treated participants not only to a cool-down mist but with bottles of Pump at the finish line – just under 45,000 bottles of water were handed out to runners and spectators at the event from 80 Pump volunteers. Promotional staff also delighted runners of all ages with various freebies including; sunglasses, lanyards and temporary Pump tattoos.

Pump Brand Manager, Sarah De La Mare, says she was thrilled to sponsor Round the Bays for the sixth year.

“Round the Bays 2015 went really well and it’s great to see the same CCANZ volunteers and their families coming back year after year to help out and hand out Pumps. After an 8.4km run on a hot day, a bottle of Pump and the misting tent is the perfect way for runners to cool down” says Sarah.

Like Pump, CCANZ also has a history with Round the Bays having entered corporate teams for several years now. Their presence this year was bigger and better with a larger site and celebration tent for participants and their supporters. Runners cooled down on deck chairs and bean bags under sun umbrellas and were treated to a well-deserved BBQ which lasted well into the afternoon.

For CCANZ runner and staff member Rachael Adams this year’s event was her first time participating in Round the Bays. She notes the run was “exhilarating”, saying “When the initial gun went off we started at a snail’s pace but as we progressed the quicker we got. Recovering after the race in the celebration tent was a definite highlight – I can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
