McDonalds has launched the innovative 'make your own' burger solution in select restaurants across the country.

The create your taste menu offers diners a new McDonald's experience, alongside the standard menu that is still available at the counter, diners have the option of using the touch screen menu system to create the burger of their dreams. In Auckland's flagship restaurant Greenlane, they have created a Burger Bar concept site that enables you to watch as your creation is built from the bun up.

Burger Bar features chicken, beef, vegetarian and gluten free options. This platform also offers the upgrade to a packaged Coca-Cola, Most Organics or Schweppes Ginger Beer.

"I tried the create your taste menu option over the weekend. It's risky, you have to trust that you can do better than McDonald's has done all these years. I have to admit that I panicked and may have created an existing burger but with a brioche bun instead. I also didn't double up on my sauce which was a rookie mistake, but the lovely staff helped me out afterwards. It's a really cool system, I definitely noticed the whole cut lettuce in my burger." Says Danielle Zinzan, Internal Communication Manager

The new format includes table service and even your fries get an upgrade, coming to you in a 'basket' or you can order them 'loaded' where you have guacamole and salsa included.
