Meet Christine, Talent Acquisition Partner

Our people are our greatest asset, and they each have a unique story to tell. Christine Ngo, Talent Acquisition Partner shares her experience working in People & Culture at Coca-Cola Amatil.

What is your favourite beverage and who would you share it with?

This is a hard one to answer because our portfolio is so diverse. I like to enjoy Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling in the office. One of the perks of working at Amatil is staff sampling and you’ll find me ordering Rekordelig Cider (Strawberry & Lime) to share with friends and family.

Tell us about your career path before joining Coca-Cola Amatil?

This is my second opportunity with Amatil and I’m thrilled to be back! This might be surprising, but I graduated with an IT degree and worked in a project environment for 5 years in another industry – I had a linear career plan and an end goal in mind. It wasn’t until I worked on the People Stream in Australia’s largest corporate transformation program within NAB, where I developed a curiosity for People & Talent!

There was an opportunity to join Coca-Cola Amatil in the Talent team and I decided it was time to get out of my comfort zone, so I pushed myself to explore other career possibilities.

After an amazing year at Amatil, I took another career risk and left Amatil – and what’d you know, the saying “you never know what you have until it’s gone” is true. I missed working in the Talent team and for Coca-Cola Amatil – this was the moment where I discovered my passion and career purpose!

Why did you want to work with the team at Amatil?

Amatil is a place where you can experience a family-like environment. I love the fact that we’re all leaders and we foster a safety-first culture i.e. the wellbeing of our people. What I love about being in the Talent team is seeing how we make a difference to the overall business from a Talent, Development & Inclusion perspective!

What does the Talent Acquisition Partner, Strategic Sourcing role involve?

My role partners with Australian Beverages and Group Office to mitigate vacancy risks, finding future skills and attracting talent for roles that are hard to fill or niche. I partner closely with the Talent Acquisition team, P&C Leaders and hiring managers to make this happen!

My three focus areas include: 1. Delivery of Strategic Sourcing services to the business 2. External Talent Mapping for Strategic Growth 3. Acquire market intelligence for People & Culture and the business (Talent)

What is the team’s area of focus for the next 12 months?

As a team, we are really focussing on three big bets: Employee experience enabled by simple effective and increasingly automated processes, customer centric skills and leadership!

Our People Pact represents the commitment made between Amatil and our employees. Which pillar of the People Pact resonates with you the most and why?

‘Lead and Inspire’ resonates most with me because Amatil invests in my development and performance. I’ve been involved in mentoring programs; development programs and I am supported by incredible peers in the Talent team and the wider People & Culture team.

I was one of three winners of the Group Office Recognition Award which shows how Amatil fulfils the ‘Be Our Best’ promise “to create an inclusive workplace and recognise you when you live our values”

What are your top three tips for being a positive role model at Amatil?

Self-awareness – being self-aware is a great tip to be a positive role model. The more you find out about yourself, the better you are at adapting to changes.

Vulnerability – we have incredible leaders here who share their most vulnerable state, which only inspires us to be brave and bring our whole self to work.

Gratitude – we are often in auto-pilot mode and rarely take time to appreciate what we have, the people we work with and thanking them or showing appreciation for their work. It’s the little things that make a big difference.

How will you enjoy your next annual leave day?

I’ll be spending my next annual leave day travelling to Singapore during the holiday! Outside of work, I run a food blog with my husband, and I’ve been instragramming #SingaporeFoodies for some inspiration. It’s safe to say hubby and I will be eating our way through Singapore!

What is your #OnlyAtAmatil moment and why did it make a difference to you?

Being a foodie, I often visit restaurants and cafes where I see our products and I can’t help but feel proud to be part of the Amatil family.

As strange as this sounds, being away from Amatil not only helped me understand where I want to take my career but also where my true passion lies and where I can thrive – that would have to be my #onlyatamatil moment.
